Inspiration - Trust & Faith!
The words trust and faith are very similar. According to Merriam-Webster, "Trust is a charge or duty imposed on faith or confidence in someone or something. Faith is allegiance to duty or a person, loyalty, firm belief in something for which there is no proof, complete trust."
When a nitro driver crawls into a race car, he/she better have faith and confidence in the car and the crew. After all, he/she just strapped themselves to a rocket and is about to be shot down a drag strip. So where does faith like this come from? Does it just happen? Do we have to conjure it up?
Faith comes from knowledge and understanding. The more we know and understand something, the more we trust in it. Over time, a racer learns and understands how a motor, transmission, chasis, body, & safety equipment has to work at its peak performance in order to win races. Learning the car's potential and limitations enables a driver to race their car at unbelievable speeds. Even when things go wrong, drivers trust in their safety equipment to keep them safe. They also have faith in their crew to rebuild the entire car again before the next round.
If knowledge and understanding builds faith, then how do we obtain a faith that causes us to be winners in Christ? By gaining knowledge and understanding in who God is, what God is, where God is, and how we fit into His plan, it allows us to build trust and faith in God. How do we gain that knowledge and understanding? By developing a personal relationship with the One who created us. He has given us everything we need to build great faith...His Word, His Son,His Holy Spirit, and even each other. If we use and experience all that He has given us on a daily basis, then our faith will grow. Are you experiencing all that God has to offer?
Experiencing Jesus is similar to driving a race car. You can watch it go down the track all you want, but you will never know what it is truly like until you experience it. After experiencing it, additional learning and understanding takes place. One thing we have to learn is that extra weight can cause us to lose a race. Hebrews 12:1 says, "...let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us."
Strap yourself in and prepare for the ride of your life to the finish line. One note, the G-Forces you'll experience is God's Grace. (God's Riches At Christ's Expense)
"...in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize." 1 Corinthians 9:24
